MAKING DISCIPLES OF THE NATIONS

TEXTS: 2 Timothy 2:2; Matthew 28:19

INTRODUCTION
Discipleship is a systematic and cumulative way of making someone to become like his master, who in our case is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ-Rom. 8:28-30, Matt. 4:19-22; Lk. 6:40; Matt. 11:28-30. Discipleship is not just a “teaching” but a “making”, a “life yoking” that affords the disciple an opportunity to learn from the master by hearing, watching as well as questioning –Matt. 11:28-30; Matt. 5: 1-3; Lk.11:1-4. This has always been God’s method of raising men for his use. This painstaking process of reproducing or imparting the life of God in other lives is the only thing that guarantees God that He will always have people to use. Moreover, it is His only approved means of reproducing the life of Christ in all who come to be saved.

WHY IS DISCIPLE MAKING IMPORTANT?
-           Discipleship is in fact the great Commission; It is essentially the assignment that Christ left for the church-Matt. 28: 19-20
-           Discipleship is the primary tool the Lord Jesus Christ used and initiated for rapid multiplication of the Church Mark 3:14.
-           God expects disciples to be raised from all nations and languages – Rev. 5:9
-           The making of disciples is our Lord’s means of answering the prayer in Matt. 6:9-10
-           It is the primary means of empowering the nations- Acts 1:8

CONCLUSION
If we are to rapidly empower the Nations for Christ, we must disciple men in every nation, who in turn, will disciple others – 2Tim 2:2. This is the Christ approved means for reaching the ends of the earth.
