CATEGORIES OF SLEEP
TEXTS:  Mathew 25: 1-5

INTRODUCTION
The categories of sleep are slumber, sleep, deep sleep of death. And death. These and their implications on a Christian will be our focus today.

SLUMBER: This is when you doze. To slumber or doze is when you are not fully asleep and not fully awake- Rom.11:8. When you are not as hot as you used to be spiritually
and you are not praying as hard as you used to be, then you are slumbering .You can do something about it .

SLEEP: The next stage is sleep .lf you are sleeping, you cannot hear ordinary conversations. If you are sleeping, you cannot feel hunger or thirst. When you are no
longer hungry or thirty for the things of God, it is most likely that you are asleep spiritually. To come out of this, you need to cry to God to wake you up. physically, sleep
is a good thing- Ps. 127:2

DDEEP SLEEP: Next is what Bible calls the deep sleep- Isa.29:10.The one who is deep spiritually is far gone. If he does not pray for a month, he will not even bother .
He would be committing sin openly and he would not even know that anything is wrong with him. It is  most likely that the fellow has become an enemy of God

SLEEP OF DEATH: This is the next category. By the time a Christian gets to this of sleep, he is almost dead spiritually -  Ps.13:3.

DEATH:
This is final of sleep. When one is dead spiritually, usually we refer to such a person as unconverted. That is someone who is still living in sin and enjoying it .

CONCLUSION:
Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. If somebody used to be a saint and has gone progressively from slumber to sleep, to deep, to sleep of death and to  death, if the fellow is willing to cry to God, He can still bring him or  her back to life.
