TEXTS: Genesis 12: 1-3
INTROUDCTION
A missionary is anyone who obeys the instruction to go into the entire world and preach the gospel-Mk. 16:15. He is that Christian that is sent out by the Lord Jesus Christ across geographical and or cultural boundaries to proclaim the gospel.
THE MISSIONARY CALL
How do you know that the Lord has called you or is calling you into missions? You can know:
- When there is a persistent burden in your heart to engage in missions
- When you have a dramatic encounter with God like Paul had on the way to Damascus – Acts 9:1-9
- When certain parts of the scriptures, particularly on missions, are impressed on your heart by the Holy Spirit.
AFTER THE CALL, WHAT NEXT?
Having been assured that the Lord has called you into missions; you must do the following:
- Be genuinely converted. Jn 3:3-5
- Be spirit-filled. Acts 4:8; Acts. 13: 9-10; Eph. 5:18
- Be disciplined in your spiritual life. Gal. 2:20; 1Cor. 9:29
- Be able to adapt to a new culture and a new environment. 1 Cor. 9:19-23; Phil. 4: 12-13
- Be healthy
- Be ready to work with other people. 1 Pet. 3:8; Rom. 12:18
- Attend school of missions. 2Tim. 2:15
CONCLUSION
Every believer is called into missions but if you cannot be a full-time missionary, you should ask the Lord where you could be involved. Be involved in Missions. God is depending on you as co-laborer with Him in the mission work.
